YOUR RESTAURANT IS READY TO OPEN, WE JUST NEED A MENU!!

Your management team has assigned you a very important task. Should you choose to accept your mission (and I hope you do), your job is to create a menu for a new restaurant. You may choose any food type you want; American style, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Moroccan, Korean....it's all up to you!

You are going to create a menu using multiple tables in Microsoft Word. This is a 100 point assignment, so take pride in your work and do a great job! It's the perfect way to get your semester off to a strong start!!

I want this to be your own work. You may get pictures and ideas from the web, but the descriptions need to be your own. It's a great opportunity to practice your descriptive English skills! Remember, no plagiarism. I want to see your powers of description!!

This is going to be an opportunity to play with Word and tables. I want all kinds of fancy features and tricky trinkets. You’re going to have questions and you’ll learn specifics as you use them on your menu. No cutting and pasting from existing web sites…easy to find out.

I have the following requirements:

  1. Come up with an original name that fits the genre (type) of your restaurant.
  2. Use some sort of picture/art work in your letterhead area (at top of paper), plus wordart.
  3. Include motto (catchy saying), address, phone number, and web address of your restaurant.
  4. Section your menu into 6 separate areas (each a 4 column by 3 row table) with a title above each table (appetizers, pastas, deserts, etc).
  5. The first will be appetizers (you'll need to have 3)
  6. Examples, nachos, chili cheese fries, etc.
  7. The next 3 will be meal type subheadings (3 of each).
  8. Example, pizzas, meats, sandwiches, soups, etc.
  9. The next 1 will be deserts (you'll need to have 3)
  10. The 6th and final section will be drinks (not sodas) (you'll need to have 3)
  11. Each of the 6 sections should have at least 3 dishes (or drinks) and include delicious descriptions of each, as well as price.
  12. That means that you'll need 6 different tables, with 4 columns and 3 rows
  13. First entry of each row will be item name.
  14. Second entry of each row will be your astonishingly delicious description.
  15. Third entry of each row will be price. (should match restaurant image).
  16. Fourth and final entry of each row will be a small picture of the dish/drink.

Your grade will be based upon how the overall product looks. You are encouraged to use:
  • Different backgrounds, different cell shading, different fonts/sizes/types of text, and pictures.
  • Your descriptions of your dishes, deserts, and drinks should be descriptive, original, and delicious.
  • Your name should be clever, in word art, and with appropriate art/drawings.
  • I will grade the menu off your screen so I can enjoy maximum impact.
